Chorus enjoys a large team of leaders who oversee everything from Children’s ministry to facility set-up. They serve to help people connect with God and others. Here’s just a few of our wonderful leaders so you can get to know them a bit and we hope you will!
Dave Reynolds / Lead Pastor
Dave Reynolds graduated from Cal State, Long Beach with a B.A. in Music and a Masters Degree (M.Div) from Biola University/Talbot Seminary. Dave has been playing in bands since high school and enjoys using music to move people. As a college intern at Bethany Church, Long Beach, he started and led a highly successful contemporary worship service, incorporating drama and concerts into the mix. In 1991 the Reynolds, with a team from Bethany, planted ShoreLife Church in Huntington Beach where they used a casual style and classic rock to reach out to Surf City. With Dave’s vision for church planting, ShoreLife helped start several other churches.
In 1998 the Reynolds moved to the Pacific Northwest to launch Northwest Church Planting from New Heights Church in Vancouver, WA. There they helped draw, develop and deploy church planters. In the Spring of 2003, the Reynolds relocated back to Southern California to start Chorus Church and Southwest Church Planting. Dave’s vision for Chorus was a place where everyone has a part, everyone is “in” like in the chorus of a song and where music is used as a bridge to people’s souls. Dave’s messages from the Bible are easy to understand, insightful, filled with personal stories, humor (and often music) and you always come away feeling hopeful. Dave and Elena have been married 25 years and have three sons. Enjoys: hiking, golf, Scrabble, US history, musical theater, rockin’ with his kids or making things in the garage. Eric Beeman / Associate Pastor
Eric Beeman earned his degree in Sociology from SDSU, his Teaching Credential from CHC and spent 6 years in the public school system. Since Eric began full-time ministry in the late 90s he’s gained experience in Youth Ministry (Horizon, SD), College Ministry (Sonrise, Santee) and Church Planting (Life Church, Temecula). Eric oversees our Worship, Tech and Young Adults ministries. Eric’s fun, music, techy loving personality makes him easy to relate to. His golden pipes are enjoyed by everyone on Sunday along with his sincere desire to give God the attention He deserves. Eric is married to Staci, an accomplished choreographer and active mother. Elena Reynolds / Communications Director
Elena Reynolds has a B.A. in Psychology from CSULB. She began her ministry with Campus Crusade and college outreach, discipling women and overseeing outreach programs. Elena has worked with several church planting directors, assessed church planters, freelanced as a graphic designer and helped plant two churches with her husband Dave. She has led Women’s Ministries, Discipleship Groups and Welcoming teams. At Chorus Elena directs our Communications as well as our Welcome Teams, focusing on inspiring people to take their next step toward God. She enjoys starting new ministries and reaching out to young moms. She and Dave have been married 25 years and have three sons. Enjoys: reading, designing and bargain hunting. Julie Cox / Children’s Director
Julie has over 30 years of experience serving, leading and managing in the field of children’s ministry. Most recently, Julie served Every Generation Ministries as Support Services Director for this comprehensive international children’s ministry. She has also served as a State Director for Child Evangelism Fellowship, Children’s Teacher/Worship Leader at Calvary Church, St. Peters, MO and is a graduate of Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music. Julie especially enjoys training and developing teams and is an excellent communicator. She and Joe have been married 30 years and have raised five children. Enjoys: Reading, writing and word games. Ryan Olufson / Youth Pastor
Ryan comes to us with ten years of experience in youth ministry from the Grove Community Church in Riverside. He has facilitated discipleship groups and weekly events, developed a skateboarding outreach program, led international mission trips and trained volunteer staff. Ryan also has years of business experience in marketing and studio design. He is a graduate of Biola University in Fine Arts/Biblical Studies and gets highest marks for character, compassion, and love for people! Enjoys: snowboarding, cycling and surfing.
