FAQ

Why are you called “Chorus”?  We’re called “Chorus” because this is the place in the song where the whole band is “in”, where everyone connects and has a valuable part. We strive to make Chorus that kind of community—where everyone feels welcomed, valued and takes part. We’re “many voices, one song” and we hope you’ll join in!

What’s Chorus all about?  Chorus is here to help people in and beyond our community connect to God and others through a growing, giving relationship with Jesus. Chorus is a safe place to explore a meaningful, personal relationship with God through moving music, relevant messages from the Bible, groups, friendships and more.

What do you believe?  You can read a formal belief statement here but basically we believe what the Bible says is true. Most importantly, we believe that a personal relationship with God is possible through the sacrifice of Jesus, not because of what we do or don’t do, or what church we attend.

How is Chorus involved in the community?  We want to be a church that “gives itself away” to this community. We partner with Kids Hope USA to provide mentors to La Vorgna Elementary students on a weekly basis. We also host Southwest Church Planting, a support system for those starting new churches. Our Mexico Mission summer project allows us to help orphans and those in need in nearby Ensenada. We also work with local food banks and farmers to distribute food to families in need.

How did Chorus begin?  In 2003, Pastor Dave Reynolds and his family moved to the area with the vision to plant a new church for new people. A team was formed and Chorus opened its doors on March 7, 2004 at French Valley Elementary with over 200 in attendance!  Since then, Chorus has enjoyed steady growth, stable leadership, financial stability and a positive reputation in the community. We were most recently meeting at La Vorgna Elementary. In December 2011 we expanded and began leasing our current facility at 29920 Hunter Rd. in Murrieta next to our former offices and conference/concert room, The Venue.

What denomination are you?  We are part of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, a network of churches. All kinds of people from many different faith traditions attend Chorus. No previous “experience” required!

Do you have a mid-week service?  We have many groups, including youth, that meet during the week in homes and at our offices. These are great places to  make new friends, develop lasting relationships and study the Bible in a casual, discussion group atmosphere. Try one! It will transform your experience from “going to church”, to “being the church”.

Where does the money go?  God uses the money we receive from members to further His ministry. We develop an annual unified budget and then use those dollars to fund our mission to help people connect with God and others. Our budget includes missions, staff, facility and office rental, community ministry, equipment, and much more. Staff salaries are set by our Elder Board and reviewed annually. Our annual budget is public and printed yearly.  We take great care with the resources that God provides. For more info contact Andy Sunderland, treasurer, or see the Giving Questions page.

Can I hear the messages online? Whether you’ve missed a Sunday at Chorus or you just want to hear what the teaching is like, head to the Podcast page. Thanks to our online player you can listen to any of the latest messages at any time. It’s very simple.

What do you have for kids? Jesus values children and so do we! We’re so glad you think it’s important to bring your children to church and involve them in a faith community. It’s our desire that your child’s involvement with Chorus will be the beginning of their lifelong journey with God. We offer age-appropriate classes for all children and youth on Sundays during our services. Our middle school and high school groups also meet mid-week for a fun, faith and friends. Questions? Contact Julie Cox (Children’s Director) and Ryan Olufson (Youth Pastor).

Is the child-care and youth program safe?  We’re continually working to improve and create a place for kids that is fun, Bible-based and most importantly, safe and secure.  Children are precious and we want you to feel comfortable entrusting your children to our care.  We run thorough background checks on all our teachers and staff and all our leaders follow specific safety guidelines including security measures to protect our children. We diligently check our facilities for cleanliness, toys are sanitized and we ask only parents to change diapers. Youth staff follow specific interaction policies with students and young adults of either gender. Concerns? Contact Julie Cox (Children’s Director) and Ryan Olufson (Youth Pastor).

How do I find out more about a relationship with God?  If you’d like to talk with someone personally about beginning a personal relationship with God, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 951/566-0920 and we can connect you with one of our leaders. We also offer a Next Steps Class that answers many common questions and helps you develop a plan to grow spiritually. Our Connection Groups are  also a great opportunity to understand the Bible better in a friendly discussion group format. And our weekly services always focus on providing you practical wisdom from the Bible to take along your faith journey.

How do I become a member? Everyone is welcome at Chorus! But we do offer “Team Membership” at Chorus. It is open to anyone who has a personal relationship with God and is willing to make a commitment toward greater service and giving toward the Chorus family. You may apply for Team Membership after attending our Next Steps Class.

How do I get more involved?  We welcome involvement from everyone at Chorus! We believe you have a part at Chorus so when you’re ready to jump in and try volunteering, we have lots of opportunities to choose from! It’s important that you serve in a role that “fits” you and you enjoy. God made you uniquely and we believe there’s a unique place for you in the Body of Christ. A great place to start is with our Next Steps Class where you will get an overview of Chorus and how to grow spiritually and serve.
